2013 Professional Development Day

Session One – Instrumental teaching strategies leading to Diploma performances for secondary students. This talk will be presented by Jason Digby (Carey Grammar), Dip Mus Performance, Licentiate Trinity College of London (LTCL), Fellowship Trinity College of London (FTCL).
Session Two – Alexander Technique class for clarinet and saxophone teachers presented by Andrew East, clarinet teacher at St. Michaels Grammar and qualified Alexander Technique teacher.
Session Three – Learning how to do simple repairs for the clarinet and saxophone, teaching the students how to look after their instruments and knowing when to send the instrument to the professional. This session will be led by Paul Donnelly of Donnelly Repairs.
Session Four – Lisa Clarke, B.Music, M.Phil (Music), a member of Clarity Clarinet Quartet and teacher at Tintern School and Marcellin College, will lead a discussion on all those little issues all teachers have about instruments: reeds, breathing, teaching students how to tongue, organising lessons, motivating. Come with questions and your own suggestions.
