The afternoon will feature:
- A session on warming up – how to do it correctly and get the maximum benefit. Bring your instrument and join in!
- Discussion of program selection to cover the VCE criteria. Practice strategies to improve technical difficulties. Students are invited to present suitable material for discussion. Bring your music
- A recital of VCE Pieces with Dr Lichnovsky .
This workshop will be of specific benefit to VCE students or to those in years 9 and 10 who wish to hear the repertoire. Many of the pieces presented are also used in the AMEB syllabus so the afternoon will be structured to involve a wider audience.
Dr Michael Lichnovsky was awarded the DMA degree from the University of Iowa, where he held the prestigious Iowa Performance Fellowship during his studies with Prof Kenneth Tse. Since returning to Australia he has taught all levels of saxophone performance, from beginning students through to lecturing at Monash University and the University of Melbourne. His teaching style has won praise for its simplicity, consistency and positive energy, making him an in demand guest teacher in schools and universities.
