Clasax

Clarity

For fifteen years, Clarity has been dedicated to showcasing the clarinet to diverse audiences around Australia and overseas.  Their unique, enjoyable and accessible presentations reveal the instrument in all its facets – from classics to jazz, klezmer to new music.  With engagements as diverse as performances at London’s famous St-Martin-in-the-Fields to an all-night outback rock concert, Clarity has made a speciality of performing a wide repertoire to an equally wide audience.

Clarity’s programs for children have seen them tour Belgium for Jeunesses Musicales, their concert repertoire has been chosen for special programs for the National Gallery of Australia, The Namur Theatre Belgium and the Canberra International Chamber Music Festival.  They have appeared at numerous Festivals including the Castlemaine State Festival, the Adelaide Fringe Festival, The National Multicultural Festival, Floriade, The Camden Haven Festival, The Festival of Jazz and Roses and the inaugural Darwin Youth Festival.  Clarity has opened concerts for the late Stephane Grappelli and Slim Dusty and marched and played with 6000 athletes for the Australian Masters Games.

From their inception, Clarity has demonstrated a commitment to the performance of works by living Australian composers, including an Australian work in almost every concert program they have presented.  They have worked with composers Peter Sculthorpe, Elena Kats-Chernin, Matthew Hindson, Ruth Lee Martin, Ian Blake, Karlin Greenstreet Love and Sandra France, commissioning new works for clarinet quartet many of which are featured on their CD, Second Door on the Left (Move Records).
